12:12 this was my problem. I'm British, I have a fair amount of knowledge on American culture, but I watched the entire movie and had absolutely no idea it was about the Manson family, I literally thought they were just some random hippies who, for no reason what-so-ever, decided to commit some murders at the end. Now that I've read about the Manson murders, I feel the movie is far more about that than the actual protagonists. Spoilers, but after the attack with the hippies I was like, okay, that was a great act 2. Now we have Leo getting hired for a big job with Polanski, but Brad Pitt the stunt double has been injured in the stabbing and will be out of work, and that will cause tension between the two of them for the final act. but then the credits rolled, and I was like, is that it? What happens to them now? Where's the rest of the movie? I feel like, the audience isn't aware of the Manson murders in some detail and try to go in blind to this (like I did) a lot of the tension doesn't exist and the climax doesn't even feel like a climax- just a bunch of random hippies showing up at the end with knives and getting their asses kicked.

This movie was satisfying on a whole new level if you hate hippies in general.
